Critical Dialogues Series with former US Senator Joseph Tydings

The students at the Washington Internship Institute marked the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy by spending time with one of the late President’s personal friends and his Maryland campaign manager from 1960, former US Senator Joseph Tydings.

Senator Tydings spoke of his friendship with the late President through a series of humorous anecdotes from their time together on the campaign trail and ended with an insightful analysis on the meaning of the Kennedy Presidency, and the legacy of public service and active citizenship left by our 35th President.

2013 Fall Networking Reception

The Washington Internship Institute's 2013 Fall Networking Reception on November 4th from 6-7:30 pm was a smashing success. Our mission at WII is to encourage students to be more active citizens ready to serve in their local communities and to equip them with the necessary skills to promote positive change. This event was another opportunity to connect our students with real examples of professionals in their field of study who embody these ideals.

This event organized by Internship Seminar Adjunct Professor Caitlin Murphy allowed our student interns the chance to converse directly with professionals from a wide variety of organizations in D.C. The event hosted a mix of student interns, graduate students, alumni of the program, government workers, non-profits, private sector and more! Everyone enjoyed some great conversation over light appetizers, cheese, fruit, and dessert!
