Michael Prather is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at UC Riverside. His research interests include humanitarianism, civil-military relations, and human rights. His dissertation examines the changing relationship between humanitarianism and the military in contexts of counterinsurgency, focusing on the case of Afghanistan. Before joining the Washington Internship Institute in the Fall of 2016 Michael previously served as an instructor at the University of California, Riverside, Irvine Valley College, and Pomona College. Michael currently teaches the International and Foreign Policy Studies class.
